The Lost Little Forgotten Things

Saturday, July 13, 2013

Ben and I went to Brimley, Mi, a sleepy little town hugging the Lake Superior coastline, last week for the holiday. As we spent the weekend together, I noticed how a few moments of child-like grace (okay, with strong adult cocktails) had inflated the love I already feel for this guy. As midnight rolled into the coast, we grabbed a blanket and headed to the shore where we wished on shooting stars and talked about the things we hold dear: family, friends, dreams, and wishes. While we see each other on a daily basis, we never talk about these precious things as work and life get tangled in. Those few hours on the beach rolled in huge waves of contentment and joy, with a little reminder to throw in my back pocket: believe in the small wonders God has given us, laughter, love and night skies to stare up at.

Details: Brimley State Park / Tahquamenon falls / Soo Brewing Company / Tahquamenon Falls Brewery / Hiking map - upper to lower falls (8 miles total) / Iroquois Lighthouse

Noteworthy: traveling the hour west from Brimley to Tahquamenon, the highway is laced with secluded beaches.

  1. Oh, Tahquamenon! My husband & brother in law went swimming under a waterfall a couple summers ago. I chickened out and have regretted it ever since!!

    1. I didn't even know you were able to swim under the falls! Ugh - looks like we both will have to have a return visit. (:
